In this lesson, we will learn how to seek and give advices ("You had better/should...") and express obligations ("You must...") along with many health-related phrases.

ぶんぽう (Grammar)

  1. Explanation Mode: …んです (Review)
  2. Doing something too much or being too something (e.g., cold, hot, difficult, etc.): …すぎる
  3. Advice forms: …た・ないほうがいい
  4. Uncertainty expressions: …でしょう (or だろう)
  5. Obligation: Vなくてはいけない・Vなくちゃいけない (must V)
  6. Prohibition: Vてはいけない/Vちゃいけない (must not V)
  7. Negative request: Vないでください (Don't V)

Useful Social Expressions

  1. おだいじに: Take care.
  2. ざんねんですね: That’s too bad. / I’m sorry to hear that. (disappointment/regret)
  3. いけませんね: That’s not good. / I’m sorry to hear that. (concern, sympathy)
