Greetings and Useful Expressions |

Let’s begin with basic everyday greetings and useful classroom expressions. One of the first greetings (aisatsu) you will learn is which means “Good morning!” You might hear/see this greeting in situations like the one shown in the picture above, where two high school students greet each other on their way to school in the morning. Greetings are very important in Japanese culture and are used frequently in daily life. In this lesson, you will learn how to use greetings like this to start conversations naturally. Through these expressions, you will also become familiar with the sounds of Japanese and learn common classroom instructions and how to respond to them. Grammar explanations will be kept to a minimum in this lesson.
